ECE Repeater Group, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that maintains and operates a network of voted and simulcast UHF Amateur Radio repeaters covering the Santa Clara Valley Section (San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Benito, and Monterey Counties). The system is maintained by volunteers and is open for use by anyone with an Amateur license. Funds raised are used to purchase and maintain equipment and pay for power and (at some sites) rental fees.
The extremely wide single-frequency coverage area provided by our digital-microwave-linked single-frequency voted and simulcast system provides unique capabilities during special event and emergency/disaster operations. In the event of a simulcast system or microwave failure, each repeater can also be accessed standalone by individual subaudible tone. We have or are in the process of establishing MOUs with Section and County ARES/RACES/OES organizations, many regular users are members of local volunteer fire departments or CERT teams, and emergency traffic always takes precedence on the system. Please contact us if you wish to use the system for your special event.
At Mount Toro above Monterey and Salinas we also operate a VHF repeater in the two-meter band on 147.270 that is linked to W6WLS and the Salinas Valley Repeater Group repeaters. Discussion and status updates are available at our Facebook Group
